Who sabotaged the Nord Stream Pipeline?

On February 7th, 2022, just a few weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine, US President Joe Biden told the world that if Russia invaded Ukraine he would “end” the Nord Stream pipeline.

Quote:

“If Russia invades, that means tanks or troops crossing the border of Ukraine again, there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it.”

When asked how he would do that, he responded:

“I promise you: We will be able to do it.”

It’s worth noting that neither the Nord Stream 1 or 2 pipeline were in use at the time of the acts of sabotage.

The Nord Stream 2 project was cancelled in February by Germany. And in-spite of being full of gas has never been in operation.

The Nord Stream 1 pipeline was shut down in August due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.

It’s hard to believe Russia would sabotage the pipeline given it’s potential as leverage. While neither pipeline was in use, by destroying the pipelines Russia would be eliminating the possibility of a significant revenue stream during their costly invasion of Ukraine, and potential leverage over countries in Europe.

Sabotaging Nord Stream 1 & 2 eliminates the possibility of European countries such as Germany reaching a deal with Russia to reopen the pipeline and provide Russia with desperately needed revenue. So who would benefit from that?

To the best of our knowledge only one country has threatened (promised) to eliminate the Nord Stream pipelines. And Joe Biden is its president.
