Is Adele Trans-Phobic?

Not long ago, the BRIT Awards became gender-neutral. Men and women now compete in the same categories. There is no longer a male and female Artist of The Year, there is just an Artist of The Year.

This year Adele was awarded Artist of The Year award. She is without a doubt an amazing artist, and deserved the honor. However, during her acceptance speech, she said that while she understood why the honors were now gender neutral, she loves “being a woman and being a female artist.”

The Left lost their minds.

People took to social media to call her a TERF (Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist), a trans-phobe, and claim she used her platform to call for the destruction of the trans community. The level of anger and outrage from the trans community and the political left was staggering.

But that begs the question: Can a trans-gender people be proud of their gender? If a trans-woman said she is proud to be a woman, does that make her a TERF?

Rachel Levine was nominated and confirmed as the US Assistant Secretary of Health, and was touted by the administration and the media as the first female Assistant Secretary of Health in US history. In a speech she gave after her conformation, she said she was proud to be the first woman to be Assistant Secretary of Health. Wouldn’t being proud to be a female Assistant Secretary of Health make her a TERF?

Jeopardy Champion Amy Schneider held a 40-game winning streak. She was hailed as the most successful woman to ever compete on the show. She said she was proud of her tremendous success and accomplishments as a woman. So, is she a TERF?

I know what some of you would say. A trans-gender person can’t be trans-phobic because they ARE trans-gender.

It is a commonly held belief on the political Left that an African American or person of color who publicly (or privately) denies institutional racism in America and identifies as conservative, has internalized self hate. Therefore they are acting in a racist way in order to gain the approval of the racist white community.

If this were true, does it mean a trans-woman, who is proud to be a woman, has internalized self hate and is acting out in order to gain the approval of “other” women?

Maybe I’m overthinking it. Maybe only trans-women are allowed to be proud to be a woman.
