Biden Has Always Had a Problem with the Truth

Biden Has Always Had a Problem with the Truth

Joe Biden has a long history of stretching the truth, and even telling out right lies. Plagiarizing and distorting the truth seem to come to him as naturally as breathing. Here are just a few examples.

  • During his first year of law school in 1965, Biden turned in a 15 page paper in which he copied 5 pages, word for word, from a law review journal.
  • In 1988 Biden claimed he went to law school on a full academic scholarship. Graduated in the top half of his class, won the international moot-court competition, received the outstanding student award in the political science department, and graduated with three degrees. However, not one word of that is true. He received a half scholarship based on financial need, graduated near the very bottom of his class, did not win the Moot Court Competition, never receive the Outstanding Student Award, and graduated with ONE degree.
  • During his 1988 presidential campaign, Biden plagiarized speeches by Robert Kennedy, President John F. Kennedy, and British politician Neil Kinnock.
  • Biden has claimed on multiple occasions that his son Beau died in Afghanistan. Beau Biden actually died from cancer 6 years after serving in Afghanistan.
  • Biden claimed he “used to drive” an 18-wheeler. He did not.
  • Biden has repeatedly claimed that in 2004 his house burn down and his wife barely escaped. He has also claimed the house nearly collapsed and a fireman almost died putting it out.  The truth is there was a small kitchen fire, and it was put out in just a few minutes.
  • Biden has repeatedly (and falsely) claimed he’s traveled 17,000 miles with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He has not.
  • During a recent speech, Biden claimed gas was $5 a gallon when he took office. (It was $2.38/gal)
  • Just a few months after being sworn in as the 46th POTUS, Biden claimed there was no COVID-19 vaccine until after he became president. The vaccine was announced in November 2020, and Biden became president in January 2021.
  • Biden claimed he is responsible for an increasing Social Security payments for the first time in 10 years. (The truth is social security payments have increased 9 times in the past 10 years.)
  • Biden claimed that due to his leadership, social security payments will be increased by 8% in 2023 (the largest increase in decades). However, increases in social security payments are tied to inflation and increase automatically, and with record inflation in 2022 (as high as 9.2%) there was a correspondingly large increase in payments.
  • In 2020 Biden claimed on at least three occasions he was arrested in 1976 in Johannesburg South Africa while attempting to visit Mandela in prison. The truth is he was never arrested, or even detained.
  • In January 2022, Biden told students at historically black institutions in Atlanta that he was detained numerous times while marching for civil rights. However, there is no record of Biden ever being detained during any civil rights protests.
  • In September 2021, Biden told Jewish leaders that he recalled going to and spending time at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue in 2018 after 11 people were murdered in an anti-Semitic attack. The synagogue claims that Biden has never visited the synagogue.
  • Biden has repeatedly claimed that in 1972 his wife and infant daughter were killed by a drunk driver. He has repeated this claim countless times over the decades. The truth is his wife swerved into the path of a tractor trailer. A police investigation determined alcohol was not involved, and the truck driver was not at fault.
  • In February 2022 during an interview with Boston College history professor Heather Cox Richardson, Biden told her, “You make me miss being a professor at Penn… I really enjoyed teaching and writing.” Then a few months later, he gave at the University of Pennsylvania, he claimed he had been a full professor at the University of Pennsylvania for four years. The truth is, Biden was never a professor at the University of Pennsylvania or any where else, and has never taught a single college class.
  • In Oct 2022 at a press conference during a trip to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Fiona, Biden claimed “I was sort of raised in the Puerto Rican community at home, politically.” Biden was born in Scranton Pennsylvania, and moved to Delaware at the age of 11. When he was first elected to the US Senate in 1972, roughly 0.39% (less than one half of one percent) of Delaware’s population identified as Puerto Rican.
  • On Dec 16 2022, at a military veterans event in Delaware, Biden told a crowd that his uncle Frank, who served in WWII, was eligible for the Purple Heart but never received it. He said when he became Vice President his father asked him if he could give his uncle the Purple Heart. His uncle wasn’t feeling well and they could surprise him. So he did it. The only problem is Biden’s uncle passed away in 1999, and his father passed away in 2002, and Biden became VP in 2009.   Additionally, there is no record of his uncle, Frank Biden, ever being awarded the Purple Heart.
