Last Friday, Joe Biden announced he would issue pardons for federal convictions for simple possession of marijuana.
Sound good? Well…
The truth is no one serving or has served time in a federal prison was arrested for simple possession. The federal government does not arrest or prosecute people for possession. Anyone serving time for possession in a federal prison were actually arrested for trafficking, but were granted plea deals where the charges against them were reduced to possession in return for information and a guilty plea.
In other words, the 150 or so people serving time for “possession” and the thousands who would receive pardons for their previous federal convictions, are actually drug traffickers.
