If you watched the State of the Union Address, you heard Joe Biden tell American how the US stands in solidarity with the world in support of Ukraine. You would have also heard him talk about the strong sanctions he has authorized against Russia.
But did you know the US still purchases 209,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil and another 500,000 bpd of other petroleum products from Russia?
That’s right. Russia is bombing Ukrainian cities, tanks rolling through their streets, killing Ukrainians, and demanding Ukraine’s unconditional surrender, and the elimination of Ukraine’s military. And Biden is still buying oil and petroleum products from Russia!
After being sworn in as POTUS, Biden canceled the Keystone XL oil pipeline, and banned new drilling on federal land. The Keystone pipeline alone would have supplied the US 800,000 barrels per day.
And, being tough on Russia, Biden also withdrew US opposition to Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
He then makes the rounds between oil producers to increase production to reduce the US’s growing energy crisis.
One more time. Biden canceled a pipeline that would have supplied the US 800,000 bpd, removed opposition to Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, and then continues to buy approximately 709,000 bpd of oil and petroleum from Russia, while Russia is ravaging Ukraine.
